```Bilingual therapy, play therapy, and trauma-informed care providing a supportive environment for children, adolescents, adults, and families.
My name is Carolina Rada (she/her/ella). I am a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, a Registered Play Therapist and Supervisor, a Brainspotting Consultant, and am Certified in EMDR and Brainspotting.
I am passionate about empowering others to create the change they desire, especially the Latinx community. As a Mexican-American bilingual therapist, I understand the challenges encountered when navigating cultural expectations, acculturation issues, intergenerational struggles, immigration, etc.
My goal in meeting is to provide a warm, genuine, accepting space for you to show up just as you are. I’ll be with you every step of the way as you work through navigating the thoughts and feelings that have kept you from connecting to your desired self.
I believe that when clients are truly understood they are able to be in their most vulnerable space, which allows for the greatest growth. I’ll facilitate dialogue to help you further explore you as a whole (mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual) and assist you in developing a more positive relationship with yourself and others. No matter what you are experiencing, I will hold space for that. I will support your process until you achieve the goal you desire. It would be an honor to partner with you on your journey.
Individual Therapy is a safe and shame-free place for you to share your worries, concerns, disappointments, painful, frightening, or life-changing experiences. Individual therapy is confidential. I’m here to hold space for anything weighing you down in order to help you heal. We will work together to identify the problems that are keeping you from achieving your goals and develop a plan to work towards improving your health and overall happiness. Life challenges are not as overwhelming when we have support.
Depending on the age of your child, I incorporate various types of modalities to facilitate the therapeutic process. For younger children, I use play therapy, as play is the first way children learn to communicate. “Toys are their words and play is their language.” -Dr. Gary Landreth
When your child is unable to communicate their thoughts or feelings you might notice symptoms of anxiety, depression, and anger, etc. These could display in your child becoming emotionally dysregulated or having behavioral issues.
In my work with adolescents, I use art interventions, games, and sandtray. Adolescents also experience depression, anxiety, and anger, etc. for reasons such as bullying, self-image, issues within the family dynamics, or traumatic events.
In both child and adolescent cases, my goal is to partner with parents to assist them in learning the following: more about their child’s behaviors, how their childhood upbringing influences their parenting style, meeting their child’s emotional needs, and communicating with their child on a developmentally appropriate level. With children and adolescents, my goal is to provide a warm and playful space where they can work through their experiences, learn coping skills to manage those BIG emotions, and feel heard.
Whether it is the big “T” or the little “t,” trauma is trauma. I use Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and/or Brainspotting to help clients work through their trauma. Trauma is any event that led you to feel unsafe and in danger. Trauma can be a single event or multiple and is stored in our mind and body. Some experiences that could be traumatic are physical and sexual assaults, domestic violence, childhood emotional abuse, neglect, abandonment, discrimination, and racism. However, there are many more. If you have experienced trauma you might have experienced some of the following: nightmares, difficulty sleeping, pushing yourself to not think of the experience(s), avoiding things/people/places that remind you of this experience, feeling overly anxious/sad/angry, or feeling “nothing.” Facing the trauma is frightening, but you will not be alone. I will be with you every step of the way.
El proceso de terapia es intimidante. Requiere que enfrente las dificultades que no le permiten lograr su máximo potencial. La vida está llena de cambios y aprendemos a adaptarnos a ellos. Sin embargo, estos cambios pueden ser difíciles y llevar a síntomas más debilitantes como ansiedad, depresión, e ira, etc. Tal vez estos síntomas no le están pasando a usted, pero los nota en su hijo/a y no sabe cómo ayudarle. Así que, aunque la terapia sea intimidante, puede ser el riesgo necesario de tomar para avanzar hacia el resultado positivo que desea. Si está listo/a para tomar el siguiente paso déjeme acompañarlo/a en este proceso.
Soy una terapeuta proveyendo servicios en español e inglés que son sensibles a la cultura y basados en el cuidado especializado para el trauma. Me enfoco en sus fuerzas y desde un método holístico. Estoy especializada en terapia de juego y estoy entrenada en EMDR y Brainspotting, métodos de tratamiento para el trauma.
También tengo experiencia trabajando con sobrevivientes de abuso sexual, violencia domestica y otras experiencias traumáticas; niños/as con problemas de comportamiento y desregulación emocional; y asistiendo a padres a desarrollar estrategias para apoyar las necesidades de su hijo/a. Mi meta es proveer un espacio cálido, genuino, y seguro.
I am currently credentialed with the following insurances:
If you have either of these insurances, I can help verify your plan benefits should we decide to continue after our initial consultation. The benefits to using your insurance are lower rates.
While I do not participate with all insurance companies, many offer “out of network” mental health benefits. If you would like to work together but your plan is not one I am credentialed with, you can call your insurance and request the details of those benefits.
Questions to ask your insurance provider:
When using out-of-network benefits, you will pay me my full fee and I will provide you with a Superbill that will assist with the reimbursement process when you submit the claim to your insurance. Please note that I make no guarantees about the level of reimbursement from your insurance company.
You can also choose to Opt Out of using your insurance. Some benefits to doing this include: privacy, flexibility in the length of treatment, greater confidentiality and control of your health record. When choosing to use insurance for treatment, a diagnosis is required and the insurance has access to your treatment record. If you decide to opt out of using insurance then you would pay the out-of-pocket rates listed below.
